The Stork (lines of three, hankies)
The figures are
- 2 double-steps to left & galley
- 2 dblsteps forward & galley
- 2 sidesteps forward & galley
- side-double forward & galley
The first 3 are “start left, galley left; then start right, galley right. The
last one has to start right to galley left; then start left to galley right.
The chorus is the 7 little sidesteps to the right (with right hand out, 7 back
to the left (with left hand out), then a half-hey; repeat all that. (except
the last half of the last chorus, end the hey with 2 plain capers to left, then
2 more to front.
The Stork is a dance from Pipe & Bowl, and was not in our basic repertoire (as
I remember) until we used it to advantage on the Green Show stage at Ashland
last Summer. (We had a set facing each of the 3 edges of the stage where there
was audience.) It’s a one-of-a-kind dance and harder to describe than to do.
